My first 222 Rem is a Browning A-Bolt II with a 22″ barrel and camo synthetic stock, I don’t like the stock.  Way to narrow at the fore-end, doesn’t set well on a bag.  I installed a muzzle brake that I had laying around and doesn’t match the barrel.  Had a bigger bolt handle put on, I have big hands, I like bigger/longer bolt handles.

The triple deuce, in its day won all of the Bench Rest matches since being introduced in 1950 by Remington in the Model 722 action.  The 222 Rem case isn’t based on any other case, it is its own thing.  The 223 Remington didn’t come down the pike until after 1957 commercially.

The 222 Rem took over the bench rest world at the time.  Setting many records that still stand to this day.  Ammo can still be found on every store shelves.

I’ve not shot this rifle much, the stock problems, might sell it.  But like all of my rifles I don’t shoot hot loads.

Having said “I don’t like the stock”.  I do like the way it shoots.  New cases are getting harder to find, somewhat.  The major manufactures still have runs on the brass and factory rounds, just not as much.  Almost all of the rifle manufactures in the USA has produced the 222 Rem in numbers at sometime or other.

The 222 Rem with a good scope can easily drop a prairie dog with authority out to and beyond 250 yards.
