The 6mm BR is the largest caliber I have; the reason for this is I want to shoot only rifles that use the small rifle primer.

My 6mm BR has a 1 in 10 twist, to shoot the lighter bullets.

I bought it from a gunsmith that wanted to do another project, I think.  I got a really good deal.  OH! It’s also a left handed model, I’m right handed.

I started right off using Hornady 58 gr VMax; the 1 in 10 twist stabilized them just fine.  Later I tried the 55 gr Nosler BT and 70 gr Speer TNT HP; all with great results.

I don’t shoot hot loads; I want my barrels to last.

Not to long after I did a few test loads I had my gunsmith build a 22 BR, I haven’t shot the 6 BR much since.

If I was to go after rockchucks or coyote, I would take the 6 BR.

      Dallas;

      In my 6 BR I use the 55 gr Nosler BT, 58 Hornady VMax, and the old tried and true 70 Speer HP. Using TAC at 33.5 gr with both the 55 Nosler and 58 Hornday gives me around 3,400 fps. Using the Speer 70 HP I stayed with 32 gr of IMR 8208 XBR for a little over 3,200 fps. I did do some testing with Westerns LT-32 and got some really good groups. With the Nosler 55 and Hornady 58 VMax I used 29.5 gr for around 3,350 fps. With the Speer 70 gr HP I used 28 grs, but got only a little over 3,000 fps. At the time there wasn’t much data out on LT-32, some loads I guess on. With much more data available now days I’m going to work on some loads for TAC, A 2230, and LT-32 and LT-30. As you can figure out, I don’t load Hot. I’m sure there’s wiggle room in my loads.

      My rifle is a 1 – 10 twist, but shoots the 55 and 58 just fine.

      Let me know how things go.

    Will with the fast 10 twist I would suggest you load the lighter bullets and up the speed. You may get a “Vapor Trail” which is really neat to watch it going out to the Prairie Dogs . Looks like a Rocket trail. Not that we are into Rocket Trails and blowing things up. It also makes the bullet really blow up on contact.

      I do use the light bullets (55 Nosler and 58 VMax), mostly. I’m just impressed how good the 70 Speer TNT HP shoots. And I have thought of upping the speed, I just don’t shoot the 6 BR much. If I could find a place to shoot hogs it would be my choice for that. I really don’t N E E D the 6 BR for what I do, but I have so much stuff (brass, bullets, dies, and so on) with it I wouldn’t be able to get my money out of it.
